Polygiene All Natural Silver Salt

Polygiene Logo

What is Polygiene?

Polygiene® antimicrobial fabric finish is the industry leader in bacteria control technology which uses silver salt made from recycled silver to treat high-performance textiles and other materials. Engineered to give wearers fresh-all-day confidence, Polygiene is perfect for active people who demand natural, long-lasting odor protection. This Scandinavian product is already popular in Europe and North America and has been adopted by prominent brands.

How Does Polygiene Work?

The natural silver salt in Polygiene active odor control treatment inhibits and guards against the growth of odors from microbial causes such as bacteria, fungus and mildew. It gives treated fabrics an odor-inhibiting effect that lasts for the lifetime of the garment and keeps it fresh. Polygiene also prolongs garment and gear lifetime, since the products are treated to resist deterioration by mold fungus and odor causing bacteria.

Is Polygiene Safe Next to the Skin?

Active only on the fabric surface, Polygiene does not interfere with bacteria naturally occurring on the skin. Textile-based products including apparel, footwear and accessories treated with Polygiene are safe to use next to your skin**. Polygiene particles are also many times bigger than nano-silver particles and therefore too large to penetrate to deeper skin levels.

Medical Class 1 approved in Europe – fabrics treated with Polygiene have received Medical Class 1 approval in Europe, which include usage on bandages for open wounds
On Oeko-Tex® list of approved products – listed by the International Oeko-Tex Association, an independent testing institute that has established a global safety standard for textile manufacturing and so called human ecology.

** In accordance with extensive human skin irritation and sensitization studies conducted using OECD, FDA and EU standards.

The Rundown on Sustainability

Polygiene takes a complete life cycle approach to the manufacture of our product as well as to the application by our customers and use of their customers. Throughout our supply chain, we take care to make decisions that conserve natural resources – from sourcing recycled silver for Polygiene silver salt to manufacturing and application through to consumer use, disposal and recycling.

Polygiene is based on natural silver salt made from recycled silver.
bluesign® approved – an independent industry textile standard covering all levels of the textile supply chain from an ecological, health and safety perspective, certifying that only those components and processes are used which are safe for humans and the environment;
Polygiene is applied to the fabric during the finishing stage at the same time as other treatments. This helps minimize impact on the environment because additional energy or water is not required.
Polygiene particles have a large amount of silver ions per surface area. Due to the structure of the particles, very small amounts of silver are required. Treating 5,000 garments or approximately 1,000 kilos of fabric requires the same amount of silver as one or two silver rings.
